Edinburgh Tops the Scottish Premier Office League

With the Scottish Premier League football season due to kick-off this Saturday, Freeofficefinder.com has taken a look at Edinburgh and Glasgow, the two cities that dominate the Scottish league table for serviced office space.

While, Glasgow may be home to Celtic and Rangers football clubs, the two leading Football League title-contenders, it is the Scottish capital, Edinburgh the base for Hearts and Hibernian football teams that can claim the highest office rental values. The BBC has reported that in Edinburgh the average cost of a work station is £80 above the national average.  The latest data has revealed demand for office space has fallen in Glasgow while it is on the rise in Edinburgh.

In a signal that serviced office providers are gearing up for increased demand in Edinburgh, Colliers recently confirmed that Regus are extending their office lease over 20,700 sq ft at Conference House, Morrison Street in Edinburgh city centre.

The survey for officebroker has shown that between April and June, demand for serviced office space in Glasgow was down by a 1/3rd.  During the same period, demand in Edinburgh increased by 33 per cent, even though the average work station cost 40 per cent more than the national average. However, serviced office tenants in the Capital are choosing shorter, more flexible deals.

In Glasgow, the average length of a rental agreement increased by one month during the same period to 11 months. While Glasgow’s serviced office rental prices remained stable, with the cost of a work station up just £1 from last year to £161.

Out of the office, the city rivalry will be reignited on the terraces, when Glasgow Rangers play Hearts, on Sat 23rd July, at the start of the 2011/12 Scottish Premier League season.
