The county town of Gloucestershire, Gloucester lies on the River Severn with the Cotswolds to the east and the Forest of Dean to the west. Gloucester mainline rail station provides regular services to London Paddington as well as other major cities including Reading, Cardiff, Birmingham, Bristol and Nottingham.  There is a good range of buses serving the area, and National Express run services to London, Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
