The company is taking on the project for English Cities Fund (EFC), which is a joint venture partnership comprising Muse Developments, Legal & General and the Homes and Communities Agency. The new 123,000 sq ft building will provide open plan office space to rent in Wakefield City Centre.
Last week the first phase of the Merchant Gate scheme opened, providing 48,000 sq ft of Grade A office space in Wakefield in addition to 35,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space and 66 apartments.
Area Director of Morgan Sindall, Chris Brown, said “As a local company, we are delighted to be involved with the building of state-of-the-art facilities for the city council’s staff. We aim to reduce the carbon footprint of all our projects so we will be using renewable sources wherever possible.”
Development director for EFC, Emma Cordingley, said “The new civic offices will be a tremendous asset to Wakefield city centre, the council and the residents of the city.”
The project is due for completion in December 2011.
