Regeneration agency 1NG is part-funding the redevelopment and believes that The Ouseburn district will become a new creative district for the North East and that the Toffee Factory will help to raise Newcastle’s profile as a business destination.
Ten small companies have now signed up for Tyneside office space in the Toffee Factory.
Creative Space Management, the project’s manager is confident that tenants will be able to occupy the workspace in December. Once complete, the former Maynards sweet factory will house 24 different creative and media businesses. Firms who have been attracted by the property’s charming industrial character and the high-spec offices offering flexibility for companies looking to expand.
In addition to the 2,600m² of workspace, tenants renting commercial offices will have access to 4 meeting rooms, an events lounge, a roof terrace and landscaped courtyard. All of these communal spaces within the Tyneside offices for rent are also covered by Wi-Fi internet.
Overall, the Toffee Factory will achieve high environmental standards for build quality and energy use. The renovated commercial property will be capped off with a green roof to capture rain and provide a habitat for wildlife.
