Brick Lane became well-known due to brick and tile manufacturing which started in the 15th century. In 1680, brewing arrived in Brick Lane using water drawn from deep wells. The site of the old Truman Brewery is now home to an office and entertainment complex, as well as the city’s best known nightclubs, 92 Feet East and The Vibe Bar. Brick Lane also has a regular display of graffiti, featuring artists such as Banksy, Ben Eine and Stik.
