Using the Overground, commuters can be in Oxford Street from Hackney in just 20 minutes, providing quick access to the more central locations of the city. East London also has numerous local bus routes. For those driving, the A12 and A13 roads have seen an upgrade and made it much easier for travelling through the city by car.

Visitors to London often head immediately for the West End and Central London when it comes to dining and shopping, but the east of the city has a surprisingly large amount to offer in terms of entertainment, much to the benefit of those who work in offices in the area. From familiar high street brands to independent shops and restaurants, as well as the much-loved Spitalfields, there is plenty to explore.
Areas such as Dalston and Hackney have become popular for restauranteurs, while Canary Wharf remains one of the best areas for shopping and eating, with over 200 shops, bars and cafés to enjoy. On Brick Lane, you will find a host of multicultural markets and restaurants, while Bethnal Green has a number of well-known brands and chain restaurants as well. For grabbing a coffee before work, there is a great selection of coffee shops around the area.
