About Essex

The county of Essex sits north east of London and incorporates the new towns of Basildon and Harlow, as well as Colchester which is the oldest recorded town in Britain. A major commuter area, most of Essex’s industry is located in offices south of the county, while in the north it is predominantly agriculture. Harlow is a well-known centre for the science and pharmaceutical industries, with Chelmsford being strongly associated with electronics companies.
