About Surrey Quays

Located in south-east London in Rotherhithe, Surrey Quays is primarily a residential area that is becoming an increasingly popular office location with companies that want to benefit from its prime location. While the docks were officially closed in the late 1960s, a huge regeneration of the area started taking place in the 1980s, transforming the area into a modern mixed-use development while retaining much of the character of the docklands.

Surrey Quays has its own Overground station, or for travel by tube, Canada Water provides the nearest Underground station, which is served by the Jubilee line. From Surrey Quays, Canary Wharf is just seven minutes away, while London Bridge is eight minutes and Bond Street can be reached in just 16 minutes. For Riverbus services, commuters can head to Greenland Dock Pier which operate on a regular basis throughout the day. The closest airport to Surrey Quays is London City which is 35 minutes away via the DLR.

 

Food and Drink

Surrey Quays is home to a number of restaurants including Castello, Gulshan Tandoori and The Yellow House, as well as chains restaurants such as Pizza Hut and Frankie and Benny’s. Café Quays, meanwhile, is an ideal spot for grabbing lunch or a coffee on the way into the office. Surrey Quays has a host of great bars and gastropubs for meals and after-work drinks, including The Mayflower – the oldest pub located on the Thames – and The Surrey Docks.

 

There is also a leisure park here that includes a cinema, several restaurants and a bingo hall. For workers seeking activities on their lunchbreak, there is the nearby district of Southwark which can be reached in 15 minutes by public transport, or Southwark Park which is just on the boundaries of Surrey Quays and has its own café.
