A square in upmarket, prestigious Mayfair, Hanover Square is located where Regent Street meets Oxford Street. The square was developed as a highly fashionable, luxury residential address in 1713 by Richard Lumley, the 1st Earl of Scarborough. Some of the 18th century houses are still standing in Hanover Square, but most have been rebuilt through the Georgian and Edwardian eras and are today almost entirely occupied by offices.
