This area of the north-east is filled with Magnesian Limestone cliffs, sand dunes and picturesque beaches, as well as a thriving urban area of pubs, restaurants and historic buildings. Some of the key attractions in this area include the South Shields Roman Fort, the South Shields Museum and Gallery, and the Lifeboat Memorial Museum.
