AXA and BlackRock have completed the construction of 6 Bevis Marks and are now preparing to sell the 16-storey office as an investment.
Located just moments from the Gherkin Tower, this eco-friendly building offers 160,000 sq ft of EC3 office space as well as a selection of retail units and leisure units on the lower floors.
The insurance broker US Risk was among the first tenants to pre-let space within the building and is set to occupy 13,488 sq ft on the second floor.
Jointly developed by AXA Real Estate Investment Managers and BlackRock private equity, 6 Bevis Marks has been awarded a BREEAM Excellent rating for its environmental performance. The architects Fletcher Priest responded to the site constraints to create a 230,000 sq ft design that reuses 50% of the structural foundations from the previous building.
Harry Badham, AXA Real Estate’s Head of UK Development, said:
"6 Bevis Marks is a unique property within the City of London for the level and scope of amenities on offer. It is being delivered to the market at a time when the City has evolved as a business location, due to both the relative value of space but also the level of investment in regeneration that has vastly improved the local amenities and environment for staff."
These new City offices will be ready for occupation during August. At the same time, The Alchemist chain will be opening a restaurant on the ground level and there will also be a pop up bar in the covered roof garden.
