At the BCO's Northern Awards Dinner, held last week in Leeds, the Chairman of judging panel, Tony Hordon praised the nominees.
Mr Hordon, who is DTZ’s Director of Business Space, praised the quality of the nominees, while stating that the nominations alone "clearly display the breadth of talent amongst the region’s architects, designers and occupiers when it comes to creating stylish and modern workplaces."
The awards ceremony attracted more than 200 guests from the property industry in attendance, including the leading developers, contractors, architects and occupiers from across the region.
The British Council for Offices selected from among the wide range of North of England office projects that were submitted. The four winning buildings provide Manchester office space for rent by private companies, as well as public bodies.
In the panel’s view, The Hive in Manchester’s Northern Quarter was ground breaking. The M1 office space is let to the Arts Council England is housed within a striking brick-clad office block built by Argent plc. In the Fit Out category, the BBC North’s new Salford office space at MediaCityUK provides one of the most creative workplaces in the North. Also, the new headquarters of Greater Manchester Police in Newton Heath, came top in the Corporate space category. In addition, the University of Salford’s campus at MediaCityUK was honoured as the region’s Innovation Nominee.
