By analysing our extensive website data, we are able to see the amount of searches that have been made in certain areas of the UK. Naturally, as the majority of the office space available is in London, the capital completely dominates the search results between January and March of this year.
While compiling the results, we ensured that people were entering the site and using the search function as opposed to entering the website on the area page.
There were searches for over 1,200 separate areas in the UK between January 1st and March 31st this year. Soho is by far the most popular area that visitors to our website search for, with 11% of all searches. and Mayfair is second, with 6% off all office searches in the first quarter of 2016.
The next 8 results are completely dominated by London areas. The only area in the list that isn’t part of London is Manchester in 10th position. Harrow (=5th) and Kensington (=5th) were the only non-central London areas in the search results.
Further down the list, results show a similar correlation, with Aberdeen and Watford (14th and 15th) being the only other areas outside of London to be in the top 20 searches.
These results just show how dominant the capital is when it comes to businesses looking to rent commercial office space, and despite the higher cost of renting an office in the centre of London, there is still a much higher demand there than the cheaper districts on the outskirts of the city. Mayfair is one of, if not the most expensive district in London to rent an office, but also the second most sought-after area by quite a distance.
